My name is Adrian Altona, my wife's name is Georgina, we have two son's, our eldest is Peter he is 25, our youngest is Anthony he is 19. Anthony has a disability called ANGELMAN SYNDROME, AS for short, he is one of many here in AUSTRALIA (80 - 200+), and there are many, many more all over the WORLD e.g. Finland, Spain, Netherlands, UK, USA, NZ, Israel, Ireland and South Africa to name but a few. Georgina, Peter and Anthony are of Australian Aboriginal (Gomilaroi) decent, and I am of Spanish/Slavic decent. Angelman Syndrome is a rare Syndrome, it has been stated here in Australia, that the occurrence rate is 1 in 20,000 born, this may not sound so rare. There are a lot of men, women and children undiagnosed in the world, and it is the aim of our homepage and other homepages scattered around the world, to make Angelman Syndrome well known to the general population, so if you wish, read Anthony's Story, or go to the Angelman Links page, where there is a wealth of information to be found.

		Angelman Syndrome was first discovered by Dr Harry Angelman in 1965, research has always been on going since then, but it has not been until 1978-88 when DNA testing came more refined, that diagnosis became much easier.
